Was Jesus white? No, He was a brown skinned Semite.

Almost!

He was a middle eastern man who used to be a carpenter once. He did not roam the Arctic, he was from a place of hot summer Mediterranean climate.

Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head (Luke 9:58)

The Son of Man roamed in desert conditions close to 3 years, preaching. He was a carpenter, who might have worked outside his small house, under the hot sun. Do you still believe in the artworks done by white Europeans? Those Artists must have had no clue about how western ‘kids’ would misinterpret their art. What I hate most is the blue eyes in these depictions.

If he had blue eyes among brown and black eyed people, then Judas’ job would have been much easier. “The blond with blue eyes is the one; arrest him”. But Jesus blended among his people of same color and traits. He was strong and muscular like his other fisherman disciples due to years of working as a carpenter. His face must have been the one of an average Semite and hence,

The one I kiss is the man; arrest him (Matthew 26:48)

Now that I know how a small detail in an art might influence the mind of people, I will no longer feed the lie to my child. The Jesus she worships will be the depiction which does justice to the facts of his origin. If the church cares about saving the lives of all those believers who are not white, they should wet the brown color and fix those artworks. If the church really cares.

Our next generation has already reached the age of believing Angels are white and Demons are black. After a decade, if my daughter weeps over the death of another colored person, then I will know we have failed.
